A few months ago when Tracy & I first spoke about her wedding plans I had a big hunch that her and I would be a perfect fit to work together. I still remember our conversation like it was yesterday! We instantly clicked. When we met a few weeks ago in Boston at The Boston Common Frog Pond for her and Andrew's engagement session, it just felt like we already knew each other. There were so many laughs and stories shared that time completely flew by! Before I knew it the sun was setting and we were capturing their last pictures on a bridge at The Boston Common Frog Pond with some of Boston's beautiful buildings in the background. I'm super happy that Tracy and Andrew also brought the other love in their lives along - Tyson! While he was super distracted with all of the squirrels rummaging about, he was an adorable addition to a few of their pictures! I cannot wait for their wedding this November in Groton, Massachusetts at The Barn at Gibbet Hill. Everything is going to be just perfect for this wonderful couple!
Last month I met with Gabrielle & Charles in the beautiful area of downtown Providence for their engagement session! Prior to this session, I had never done any sort of session in Rhode Island except a few sessions over in Westerly at a quaint little park. What a change this was! When Gabrielle and I originally started planning the session I wasn't quite sure what to expect as far as the locations went so Google quickly became my best friend. We mapped out a great plan of action for us and started at a small park that overlooked the Providence capitol building. The view was absolutely spectacular and gave us a great overlook of the historic building! Gabrielle and I talked about the possibility of snow for the end of our session and feared it might end up being too much for us that day. We decided to press on in hopes it would hold off until we were done shooting. After we finished in the park we moved down a ways to a street called Benefit Street. I was floored by the beauty of the homes and businesses that lined the street. The vibe was definitely a historical feeling with a touch of modern that made for a perfect backdrop! Just as we were starting to wrap up I spotted a snowflake and before we knew it we were bestowed with beautiful flurries! We played around a little bit more and got some really wonderful shots. One of the things I love about being a Providence engagement photographer is the opportunity to see these awesome historical locations and work with some wonderful couples! I can't wait for Gabrielle & Charles' wedding this year!
Oh, and never forget: if you can't find that perfect facial expression, all you need to do is find your inner 'smircrinkle'. You'll thank me later.
Back in September of last year I attended a totally awesome wedding with Ashley & Matt over at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield, Connecticut. It was so awesome that I decided to post their wedding in two parts so I can make sure to show off all of their pictures. One of the things I absolutely love about New England Weddings is how every venue seems to have so much charm, history, beauty and elegance. The Webb Barn is absolutely no exception to this! The dark wood is so warm and rustic, but yet it has so much class and elegance. This was my second wedding here last year and I cannot wait to get back for another one. The day started off with Ashley getting ready at her parents, her dad seeing seeing her in her dress for the first time and then we moved to a park down the road from the Webb Barn to do the big reveal with her then husband-to-be! Enjoy!
It's been too long since I've blogged something so what better to kick it off then with a post about the holidays! Back in November I had a totally rockin' family session with The Shunda Family over at Allen Hill Farm in Brooklyn, Connecticut! I found out about Allen Hill Farm from one of my awesome brides who is getting married at this beautiful venue later this year. The owners and operators of Allen Hill Farm are some of the nicest and most accommodating people! They graciously allowed me to use their tree farm to take holiday pictures at on several occasions this year. As usual, Madeline was a total ham the entire session with that adorable grin she has! Mom and Dad looked dashing to say the least as well! We had a great time as always and I absolutely love how their holiday session at Allen Hill Farm turned out!
One of the things I absolutely LOVE about being a Connecticut engagement photographer is the amazing opportunities living here has given me. Not only have I met some truly wonderful clients who have quickly become great friends of mine, but the locations I've been able to shoot at are just amazing! Kristin became a client of mine before she started planning her dream day and the first time we worked together I instantly felt that her and I would be a great team. When she started to plan her wedding she came to me and the rest is history! One of the things she mentioned she really wanted was her engagement session on the water while her and her fiance, Joe, were in their boat. What an EPIC idea! I recruited my husband and a few weeks later we launched the boat and off we went.
I have to say that this might just be one of the most difficult sessions I've had to date! Not only was I hanging on the front of our boat trying to stay steady in the choppy waters (of COURSE it was blustery that day!) but I also had to direct my husband on where he needed to put the boat, how I needed to face AND I had to pose Kristin & Joe for their pictures! Phew! It was an absolute blast though and I would do it again in a heart beat. I am so excited for their wedding day next year! I know it's going to be a wonderful time and completely perfect in every way. What is one thing being a Connecticut engagement photographer taught me? To think outside of the box!
