Workshops & Mentoring
When I began my interest in photography, there was no one for me to look to for help. Countless hours were spent on google, aimlessly searching for forums, articles, pictures and anything else that might help. I was frustrated and wanted to quit on more than one occasion! I learned photography takes time, dedication, a great deal of practice as well as trial and error. When I look back on the first day I held my camera in my hand, I truly wish I had someone to show me the ropes.
I'm really excited to offer a few workshops and one on one mentoring because I would have done anything to find someone to help me in person to save some of the frustration!
As of right now I am offering three basic classes. "Snap It" will be an intro workshop to help you understand your camera more and to start you on the adventure of shooting in manual. Some of the things I will cover are: Intro to Exposure (under exposing and over exposing), Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO, using the AP & SP modes, lens overview, choosing lenses and tips on taking better photos (shooting in different types of lighting, choosing focal points, etc). The class will be 3-4 hours and will take place indoors and outdoors. If the workshop takes place in a colder month, please dress appropriately!
Boudoir 101 will be for photographers who understand the basics of shooting in manual and are looking to get some more help and experience shooting boudoir. This workshop will go over lighting, poses, outfits, meeting with clients, preparing for a boudoir session, locations, etc. I'll touch on legal information and contracts as well. It will be a 2-3 hour class.
One on One mentoring is exactly what it says - a one on one workshop. I'll create a lesson plan for you depending on what you need help with or want to go over. Each session will be one hour. If you would like to book more then one hour, please contact me as I offer discounted pricing for each additional hour you are looking to book. One on One mentoring can also be applied towards learning how to use Adobe Lightroom to edit your photos.
"Snap It" and Boudoir 101 will also come with a private forum where we can continue to discuss your progress!
*Discount: Sign up for 2 or more workshops and receive $15 off! Use promo code: 15off to receive the discount.
Q. What happens if there is an emergency and I cannot attend?
A. I do my best to accommodate everyone by creating the workshop far enough in advance, but I understand that things happen! If for whatever reason you cannot attend the workshop, your payment can be used towards the next date, another workshop or a photography session with Hillary Strater Photography. The workshop fee is non-refundable.
Q. What if it's raining the day of the workshop?
A. I will have a backup date posted in case of uncooperative weather!
Q. How do I know this is for me?
A. My classes are designed for beginner photographers looking to become more knowledgeable on using their cameras manual mode. If you are already comfortable shooting in manual, "Snap It" is not for you. However, Boudoir 101 and One on One Mentoring would be a better fit depending on what you were looking to focus on with your photography.
Q. Do I need a specific camera?
A. Yes, you will need to have a DSLR camera for all of the workshops. Unsure if your camera is the right one? Contact me!
Q. How do I sign up?
A. Below you will find the list of classes followed by an "Add To Cart" button. Simply add whichever workshop you would like to your cart and then proceed to the checkout. Once the workshop is paid for you can expect to hear from me within 24-48 hours!
